What do I need to be a member?

There are 3 types of membership:

  • Active – require a degree in Earth Sciences or a Petroleum related Engineering/Science degree
  • Associate – working in Petroleum and associated industries but without the above qualification. They may need the endorsement of two current members or approval from Council
  • Student – those studying for a degree in the subjects noted above

How do I join the PESGB?

The easiest way to join is on our virtual platform. Here you can enter your details and choose a payment option in 1 easy to use form. You will need to provide details of your university level education, home contact details or business contact details if applicable. Students will need to submit verification of their student status eg. a scan of registration document, and those applying for Associate Membership should give the membership numbers or contact email of two sponsors. Approval of application may take a few weeks. Member packs are sent at the end of the following month

Can I pay by Direct Debit?

Payment by Direct Debit is available on an annual or monthly basis. From the renewal site choose the Direct Debit option and this will take you to a link. Fill in the form with your details and submit. Once your Mandate has been set up, the Membership and Database Officer can set up a subscription and take a payment from you.

How can I get a copy of the Membership Directory?

These are sent out to members once a year in the Autumn, if a hard copy has been requested. Circulation is restricted to PESGB members and the Directory is not for sale. The online Directory is always more up to date as it is being continuously amended.

I can not access the members only part of the site?

Are you sure your membership has not lapsed? If you have forgotten your password, click on the link for help to update this. If you are still having problems, contact the office on 020 7408 2000.

I cannot login

You will need the email address which you originally registered and your chosen password. If you have forgotten your password, click here for help resetting this.

Can I check my membership number

If you have your email address and password available you can login to the online database to check your number. If you require further assistance with your details please call the PESGB office.

My Magazine hasn’t arrived

Due to the ongoing impact of the pandemic the magazine is currently only available to view online.

How do I place an advert in the Magazine?

The Magazine is a monthly publication with deadlines for receipt of payment, artwork and advertising. Rates vary depending on the type of advert. Contact simona@pesgb.org.uk for more details.

How can I get a receipt for payment?

If you have a receipt query please send email pesgb@pesgb.org.uk. Please note however, that automated receipts for event bookings and membership are sent at the time of payment. Look out for these in your inbox if you need them for tax or expense purposes

Journals access online and postal queries

Journals are sent direct from the publishers. Although requests for subscriptions may be made at any time, the publishers will only update mailing lists a few times a year. This means you may not receive journals straight away and these will be backdated to the beginning of the year.

Online subscriptions can take a few weeks to be activated. You will receive an email to let you know this is the case and this will include details of the access process.

Making a payment

You can pay for items or membership online. This is usually the quickest method. For insructions on how to use our member platform to renew pleas use this document. Payments can be made with Credit or Debit Cards but we do not accept American Express. BACs payments are also acceptable but please inform us if you have made a payment by this method.

Alternatively, you can call the PESGB office and make payments over the phone. There may be a slight delay in processing a payment made this way

Updating details

This can be done on the member only part of the database. Members can change details themselves, email or phone the PESGB office with changes or send in the Member on the Move form which is always included with the monthly magazine

Our monthly evening lectures start at 5:30 pm unless stated otherwise

When will I receive registration confirmation for an event?

You will receive an automated receipt for payment when you book online. Final details on how to join virtual events will be sent 24 hours before it begins.
