Talk Topics

Topic: The Big Shift

It’s all about transitioning these days, so our first summer social speaker, Carla Riddell, will be sharing some of her experience in making changes along your career pathway.

She will talk about periods of transition from within her own journey when she has made the choice to change from a technical role into management, from working in large corporations to smaller independents, and from Oil & Gas to working in the renewable sector, along with the transferable skills and the networks we all rely on to make change easy.

Topic: The Energy Trilemma 2022 – where do we go from here?

The offshore energy industry continues to operate in a dynamic environment, with a complex range of geopolitical, economic and social issues impacting industry’s social license to operate.  OEUK’s Communications, Advocacy and Insights Project (CAI) is an initiative which is focused on transforming the understanding of our sector, repositioning the industry and sustaining its integration within a comprehensive UK energy strategy.  And with the energy trilemma of security, sustainability and affordability back in focus, there has never been a more important time to focus on these three pillars.

This presentation, given by Jenny Stanning, External Relations Director at OEUK and one of the CAI Project’s leads, will give an insight into the current external environment that the UK’s oil and gas sector is operating in.  account of what has been a turbulent political period resulting in, by the time of the event, a new UK Prime Minister, coupled with a challenging business environment, security of supply concerns, and post-COVID recovery, Jenny’s presentation will examine the events of the past year, how sentiment toward the industry has tracked, and what may happen next.
