Surviving the Downturn Meeting – August

Transferable Skills and Career alternatives - thinking outside your professional box

17 August 2017

Overview

Consultants, Contractors & Employment Seekers

Following on from the Surviving the Downturn workshops, Alan Foum will be establishing a new PESGB SIG for Consultants, contractors and employment seekers.

These have been inspired by Careers Springboard (http://careersspringboardbracknell.org.uk/) an executive job club based in the Thames Valley.

The aim of this group for self-employed or job seeking Geoscientists is to meet up and exchange ideas, contacts and advice for example:

  • How to set up my own company
  • Do you know a good … – accountant, web designer etc.
  • I have a project but need specialist skills – e.g. do you know a basin modeller
  • Developing Linked in Profiles, skills based CV’s and marketing material
  • Growing and maintaining resilience

The intention is to meet monthly in the PESGB offices in Croydon. All PESGB members are welcome. The initial format would be similar to Springboard, a short presentation on a topic followed by a flowing discussion, but this will evolve. We would also like invite any recruiters who are able to come and meet potential candidates for short or long term roles in an informal setting.
