Any person who holds at least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognised institute, college or university in a subject which is relevant to exploring for and producing hydrocarbons, such as, but not limited to, Geology, Geophysics, Physics, Petroleum Engineering, Petrophysics or Drilling.  Related subjects shall normally be eligible for Active Membership upon the discretion of the Executive Council.

Any person who does not have the required academic qualifications, but who has been actively engaged in any scientific, technical or commercial aspect of petroleum exploration for at least one year and who is sponsored by 2 Active Members of the Society, shall normally be eligible for Associate Membership upon the discretion of the Executive Council.  Any Associate Member having at least one year’s membership of the PESGB and having been engaged in any scientific, technical or commercial aspect of petroleum exploration for at least 5 years, may be admitted to Active Membership at the discretion of the Council.  Associate members shall not vote or hold office.

Any person who is a full-time undergraduate student in Geology, Geophysics, Physics, Petroleum Engineering, Petrophysics or related subjects and who expresses an interest in petroleum exploration, shall normally be eligible for Student Membership of the Society upon verification of their student status. Post-graduate students in these same subjects may opt Student or Active Membership.
