Join this SIG

This Special Interest group aims to outline and communicate the principles and best practices in diversity & inclusion within the GESGB, fostering work environments that maximise the potential of individuals and benefiting all members.

The SIG will discuss and debate how to promote equal opportunities for all members being mindful of diversity aspects such as age, gender, ethnicity, cultural backgrounds, etc. The GESGB aims to be inclusive in all activities and to offer the membership to the whole community of geoscientists in Great Britain. Often unconscious behaviours and micro-inequalities can cause that people don’t give their best at work, professionally and socially, resulting in undesired performance and attrition.

We will endeavour to contribute to the network building, outreach efforts and mentoring programme within the GESGB membership to go beyond raising awareness about D&I aspects, encouraging action and accountability in team leaders and decision makers.

Organisations in the UK and abroad have realised that applying diversity and inclusion practices help attract and retain talent and in doing so these organisations have achieved greater levels of profitability.  All members are encouraged to join us in the journey to exploit their talent, value diversity and shape work environments in our global industry.

Please send an email expressing your interest to gesgb@ges-gb.org.uk and stay tuned to find more information in the GESGB magazine, blog and Linkedin page where we will advertise future events in Aberdeen and London with speakers from our O&G industry and also other industries.

Organisations wishing to sponsor the Diversity and Inclusion SIG should contact gesgb@ges-gb.org.uk
