Geophysics Seminar: Call for Papers Now Open

Thu 27 April 2017

The PESGB Geophysics SIG will host a one-day seminar on Quantitative Interpretation at the Geological Society, Piccadilly, London on Tuesday 24th October 2017

The risks of exploring for stratigraphic and combination traps, the reduction of reservoir and fluid uncertainties in field appraisal, and the maximising of production and recovery of hydrocarbons from existing fields, are being significantly mitigated by advances in Quantitative Interpretation techniques.  Rock physics is today routinely applied to predict reservoir  and overburden parameters, such as lithologyies and pore fluids, from seismic data. The 21st Century subsurface interpreter must have a solid  understanding of rock physics, geomechanics, petrophysics, geology and geophysics to guarantee success for both geoscientist and their company.

Initial expressions of interest to present a paper are now being requested, short abstracts (max 500 words) should be sent to jim.henderson@trace-editors.co.uk no later than 31st May.   Authors whose papers are selected for the seminar will be required to present a full abstract (with illustrations) no later than 31st August 2017.
