Hello from Maria
Its day three of my new job and I am happy to report that I think I will stay!
This ‘oil world’ seems like one of those ’best kept secrets’, as I had never given the Petroleum Industry a second thought before. Now I’m in it, I can’t believe how passionate and excited you are about your work, the people I have met so far adore what they do and are exceedingly generous with their time. The PESGB Council and the others that work voluntarily alongside them, do amazing work on members behalf, they take time out of their already busy schedules to put something back into the oil community. We wouldn’t exist without the work of these committed individuals and I can’t wait to work with them.
I have been to a small number of PESGB events recently and met a few of the members, everyone has been very welcoming but the thing that stands out the most is (please don’t take offence) is how much you guys drink! I speak on behalf of your livers when I say, I hope you are taking part in dry January!
On a serious note I would like to let you know that I have many hopes and plans for my new role in the PESGB. Too many to share now (and I haven’t passed them by the Council yet) but I would like to reassure you that your organisation is in safe hands and I intend to build on the great work already done. My team and I are hoping to present you with new courses, more field trips, networking events and conferences, we would like to build the membership and do more with the funds that we generate. I will look forward to sharing these plans with you in due course and if you would like to get in touch to share your thoughts please do, I would love to hear from you.
