Category: Council, Elections, Membership

I would like to be considered for the role of Education and Training Director at the PESGB because I feel I can bring a significant amount of relevant experience to the role including:

-32 years international E & P experience spread in over 92 countries.

– Work experience in most facets of the oil industry comprising several years in the service sector followed by twenty years as an explorer with BG Group and three years as an independent consultant.

– Planning and running numerous field trips and field/classroom training courses in the UK, US, Brazil, Argentina, Middle East and SE Asia for both technical and non-technical staff.

– Strong academic/applied research background having published over 80 papers in peer-reviewed journals on various aspects of petroleum geology, regional geology, stratigraphy and sedimentology.

– Supervision and mentoring of PhD/MSc students and company staff. External examiner for PhD theses.

In terms of more recent experience of direct relevance to the PESGB membership: I ran the first Basin Mastery Course (on the Petroleum Geology Myanmar); organised and ran the Geoliteracy field trip to Dorset and am currently helping out with arrangements for next years combined PESGB/SEAPEX conference. I am also a trustee of the Etches Collection Museum of Jurassic Marine Life in Kimmeridge.

I have numerous contacts in both the industry and in academia who I will shamelessly pester (so colleagues beware) to ensure that the PESGB can run relevant field trips, training courses and workshops as well as helping to promote the PESGB to a broader audience by supporting various outreach activities.
