I am excited and privileged to be nominated to stand for the role of Young Professionals (YP) Director. I have been an active member of the PESGB since joining the society in 2012 and have been a member of the YP SIG Committee for the past six years. For the last four months, I have been Acting YP Director (covering a leave of absence for the current YP Director), which has given me invaluable insights, understanding and experience into the role of a PESGB Council Member.

Throughout my time on the YP Committee to date, I have organised Young Professionals events such as the annual House of Commons Panel Discussion, various seminars and lectures, networking events and have planned debates and discussions at PETEX and the PESGB-SEAPEX Asia Pacific conference held in London. I have been actively involved in the PESGB YP mentorship scheme and have regularly contributed to the PESGB magazine. I have liaised with other societies such as the AAPG and the London Petrophysical Society to organise evening events and one-day specialist seminars specifically aimed at developing the technical knowledge and network growth of early career professionals; implementing new and engaging methods of learning and interaction to facilitate these goals.

Should I be elected as YP Director, I would like to continue the work of the current YP Committee to provide new dynamic, innovative, engaging and low-cost educational activities; encouraging the team to push for unique and diverse networking opportunities. I would also like to work closely with the PESGB Council and the YP Committee to further improve inclusivity and diversity within the organisation, helping to find innovative ways to attract and retain new members whilst continuing to offer high quality educational/networking events and schemes to our current membership including the YP chapters in Aberdeen, Dublin and London. I want to work with the Council to re-establish strong links universities, inspiring students to join the society before they enter the industry, emphasising the supportive benefits of being part of the wider petroleum community from an early stage in their careers.

As well as being a passionate PESGB member, I am a Senior Geoscientist with seven years’ experience working within ERCE, Europe’s largest independently owned upstream energy consultancy. As part of a multidisciplinary team, I regularly work on Subsurface Studies, Reserves and Resources Evaluation and Unitisation & Expert Witness projects. I have extensive and wide-ranging experience working in global petroleum basins.

In my spare time, I enjoy raising money for charity through fitness challenges and singing in London’s largest choir. I am also a keen yogi and amateur tank driver!
