Message from Maria Iredale to PESGB members

Thu 26 March 2020

Dear Members,

These are unprecedented times indeed, not something any of us would have predicted six months ago. Our members are of the utmost importance to us. As such, we are currently looking to move as much as possible to a virtual platform. We are soldiering on – virtually.

We understand the anxiety these unprecedented circumstances have created and want to assure our members that we are doing our best to ensure your member journey remains a positive, supportive and relevant one. Our members are our ‘raison d’etre’.

Your support; through your membership; is what keeps our community going as we work through the most challenging event of our times. For this, we are both honoured and deeply grateful.

We will be sending out more information on how this will look as well as offering ongoing guidance and support, so all our members are able to join in and engage. If you haven’t tried a virtual meeting, webinar, conference or training before, you may be pleasantly surprised.

We are changing the organisation to fit the situation, so the challenge now is to get as much content online for virtual participation for you as possible. We are starting with the Night School programme and will be extending online services to other events such as conferences and meetings soon.

Though the monthly lectures in London and Aberdeen are currently postponed, they will be back as soon as we have the all clear. In addition, some of our other planned events have had to be revised, postponed or, as a last resort cancelled, so do please check the website.

In order not to put any additional strain on the hardworking postal service, the next issue of the magazine will only be available online. Following this, the magazine will have a short hiatus while we assess the current situation, but rest assured it will return as soon as the situation is resolved. I know you value the magazine, but I promise that during its absence you will be kept informed with regular bulletins.

In your downtime please check out the new members database and stay in touch with your community through the new facilities. I do hope you all stay safe, physically, emotionally and financially during this challenging time and I look forward to seeing you all at the next evening lecture.

We are always here to listen our members. If you have any concerns or questions, we are here to help you! Contact us via email: pesgb@pesgb.org.uk

Best wishes,

Maria Iredale,
Executive Director
