Maritime Museum Phase 3 April 2013

The PESGB Young Professionals are delighted to present:
‘Murchison Platform: The End of an Era’ at the Aberdeen Party from 6-6.30pm on Tuesday 1 December 2015

The Murchison Platform has stood proud in UK’s Northern North Sea since 1979, producing over 250 million barrels of oil; sadly all good things must come to an end and Murchison ceased production in February 2014.

You are invited to join CNR International’s Decommissioning Project Team on a journey through the history of Murchison’s life, alongside a huge scale model of the platform situated in the heart of Aberdeen’s Maritime Museum. The journey will take you through all aspects of the platform’s life, often seldom communicated to geoscientists, from the building of the giant jacket, to decommissioning this behemoth.

Expect an emotional ride as you hear from the people who worked on Murchison right up until the taps were turned off, but expect a good few laughs along the way!

The lecture will be limited to the first 60 attendees to arrive, so get there for 6pm to make sure you don’t miss out!

Tickets are £20. This includes an open bar (beers, wine and soft drinks) and hot food.

This is a member-only event and tickets will be issued on a first come first served basis.

This is a fundraiser event.
