The aim of the PESGB’s Middle East Special Interest Group is to represent members with an interest in activities in Middle Eastern countries. We hope to build a forum which would be a great way to actively engage and discuss not only oil/gas related topics but also energy transition and renewables in this region. The objective of this group is to provide a semi-formal forum for members that are currently or formerly engaged in activities related to the Middle East. Topics of interest are a wide range and include not only the lifecycle of the abundant and flourishing Petroleum fields seen in the Middle East but also about the lookahead to the future in terms of projects in renewables and energy transition roadmaps.

Meetings will be held on a six-monthly basis where we welcome operators, service companies, academics and researchers to present their ideas and also experiences in exploration, appraisal, development, production and decommissioning of oil/gas assets. We also look forward to members with expertise or interest in allied industries joining us. Two examples of this would be Geothermal and Carbon Capture & Sequestration sectors.

As one would imagine, due to the current Coronavirus pandemic, the SIG meetings will be virtual. When it becomes possible to do so, the meetings will be a physical event with great networking opportunities where you can meet and greet with your fellow members.

We invite all interested members of the PESGB to join in. We are currently looking forward to establishing a steering committee. The task of this committee will be to ensure smooth functioning of the SIG, to organise meetings, manage events, develop the SIG and ensure the group functions effectively.
