Many of our members I am sure will work for organisations which have accreditation for their people management through Investors in People (IIP).  As a sign of good practice it has been around for 25 years and is now recognised in over 75 countries, over 14,000 organisations can’t be wrong.

For the uninitiated IIP helps you manage your people better and when you get it right they recognise it through the awarding of the IIP standard. Obviously it’s not quite that simple but the premise is.

Personally I like the tools IIP gives you and the questions it asks of you and your team.  It sets performance measures and when you don’t quite meet them it supports you till you do.

The team here at PESGB is ‘small but perfectly formed’, they are a talented bunch of individuals who come together to make a great team.  Harnessing this talent means the capacity of the organisation has suddenly grown and we are going to work hard but have a great time too in serving the membership.

Normally when you enter a business as a new manager, a significant proportion of the staff leave (honest, it’s not just me) as a result of the regime change.  Now unless you guys are party to information I am not, I think this team is staying and I am thrilled.  They are dedicated and always thinking what else they can do to add value to your subscription. The team are the PESGB’s biggest asset and they have been awarded the Investors in People Standard. Please join me in raising a glass (its okay, dry January is over) to the PESGB and the contribution they make. Cheers.
