The PESGB is delighted to announce that they are finalists for three awards at the European Association Awards 2018.  These awards recognise excellence and exceptional quality delivered by associations across Europe.

Best Association Website – members will be aware that a lot of work has gone into updating the PESGB website over recent months, and that hard work is reflected in the feedback you’ve given us – that it is easier to navigate, bright, colourful and very informative.  Behind the scenes the new site gives the PESGB team the data it needs to focus on what is important to members, leading to the set up of new SIGs and Regional meetings.

Best Membership Initiative for GEOLiteracy – 2017’s GEOLiteracy event took the Stoneley Lecture to different parts of the country over the space of a month, with Ken Lacovara entertaining members and their friends and families with his insight into dinosaurs and his Dreadnoughtus discovery.  GEOLiteracy 2018 will build on the success of this with Professor Joanna Morgan leading the Tour on “The Chicxulub Impact – the End of an Era” from 15th May onwards.

Best National Association – the PESGB is lined up against the best Associations in Europe for this award, and, given the difficult economic times recently, it is fantastic to see the PESGB team rewarded for the way in which it has steered the society through the downturn. The society has continued to give great value and support to all its members, maintaining the high level of training and events and providing extra opportunities for networking and back-to-work training.

The PESGB is up against some stiff competition in all three categories, and the team will be travelling to Brussels on 23rd February for the ceremony.  We look forward to hearing the results!
