Job Profile

Joining a regional team and reporting to a Regional Manager, the successful candidate will fulfil a very senior scientific role within Robertson UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking geological studies at various scales ranging from regional to block scale, the integration of disparate geological and geophysical data sources and the identification, definition, resource assessment and risking of hydrocarbon prospects. Project work will include long large scale regional studies through to quick fire data room analysis in a few weeks.

The Principle Petroleum Geologist will have a detailed understanding of all elements of the petroleum system and have the ability to integrate disparate data sources on all the elements to produce a synthesis on petroleum prospectivity of an area, region or basin.

The successful candidate will generate play fairway and CRS maps, as well as reservoir/seal distribution and palaeographic maps to be integrated with seismic and the findings used to assess exploration potential and risk.

You will Liaise with and be a point of contact for clients; advising on all technical aspects of the assigned regions and confidently present results (and write geological reports) to internal and external clients. Proactively staying up to date with technological advances and industry trends in the field of petroleum geoscience is a major part of the role to ensure best services and solutions are offered to clients.

As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to provide technical leadership and mentoring to more junior members of staff, sharing knowledge and providing technical advice to both your wider team and management.

 

Required Education and Experience:

The ideal candidate must be educated to degree level with an additional MSc or PhD) in Geology or Petroleum Geology with demonstrable and proven senior experience of working in an oil company / oil consultancy.

 

Extensive recent practical experience with petroleum systems, prospect analysis and play analysis. Project management experience with great attention to detail and excellent problem solving and analytical skills are all required.
