Quick Geophysics SIG Survey – we need your input!

Thu 07 January 2016

Category: Membership, Seminars, Surveys

The PESGB Geophysics Special Interest Group (SIG) was started in 1999 and since then has delivered nine seminars for PESGB members.
The SIG is considering whether to host an event in 2016 on one of the following topics but other ideas and suggestions are most welcome.

Topic 1:  Getting Value from Geophysics: Efficiency, Economy, and Effectiveness for low oil prices
With the current low oil prices there is a much greater focus on efficiency, economy and effectiveness of geophysical data acquisition, processing and interpretation.  This seminar will discuss ways in which we the geophysics community can actively support our industry at a time of low oil prices.  In addition to presentations we will host a series of open round table discussions on selected related topics.

Topic 2: Advanced Geophysical techniques for Improved Resource Management
Maximising resource recovery in both mature and exploration assets increasingly requires a multi-disciplinary approach to more fully understand the subsurface.  The key theme of the seminar will be the integration and cross-discipline interaction of geophysics, geology, petrophysics and reservoir engineering. We will discuss current strategies, practices, possibilities and challenges to improve reservoir recovery.

To help us make our decision  please take part in the quick survey by 7 February
