The PESGB Cumberland-Lake District Branch was privileged to enjoy Danny Clark-Lowes’ talk on Earthquake prediction in Nepal. The occasion was our Christmas lunch on 21 December. This was a highly appropriate topic as our area is noted for geology, exploration, mountaineering (and a small earthquake on average every 17 years!). Our area also has close links towards general assistance for the Nepal earthquake victims and Sherpa communities.

The Sportsman’s pub excelled themselves with excellent food, beer and also a digital projector and a free wall right beside the table for our small group. Members were present from Houston, the south and the local area. A few missing due to calendar clashes and broken bones from slipping on ice, but an excellent meeting and many thanks to Danny who will be formally recorded as our first guest speaker.
