On Wednesday 20 September the second annual PESGB YP Technical Seminar took place in front of an enthusiastic audience of Young Professionals . Four outstanding speakers presented from across academia and industry with talks encompassing geology and geophysics. Neil Frewin, President Elect PESGB and David Cleverly former PESGB YP president who were the judges for the evening. They remarked on the high quality of the presentations and the difficulty in choosing just one winner amongst the four.

The presenters were Alexandra Kenison of Cluff Natural Resources Plc who presented on the ‘Overlooked Stratigraphic Play in the Triassic Bunter Sandstone of the Southern North Sea; Jamie Collard of Westwood Global Energy Group who presented on ‘Analogue Play Statistics for improved pre-drill risking’; Bennet Haworth of ARK CLS Ltd  who presented on Addressing Loss of Amplitude beneath Basalts and Daan Beelen from Imperial College University won best presentation for his research on the effect of differential compaction on shelf edge trajectories.

The evening was rounded off with a drinks reception where everyone could mingle, catch up and make new friends. The seminar provided a great opportunity for young professionals to showcase their technical abilities and gain invaluable presentation experience in a supportive environment.

Many thanks to the  judges who gave of their time, to the presenters who went out of their way to prepare for this event and to Shell who donated their Canary Wharf venue for the evening. Do look out next year for a repeat of this extraordinary event.
