The Potential and Challenges of Shale Gas Development in the UK

The UK is potentially on the brink of a shale revolution. The government encourages exploration for shale gas and oil through the award of 93 licences/159 blocks in the recent licence round and passing legislation to easy the passage of drilling permits. However public opinion is split with a significant minority of people opposing shale gas development on perceived safety, environmental and global warning concerns. This talk will review the shale gas potential of the UK, the methodology for drilling and fraccing safely and INEOS’ approach to community relations.
