The Geophysics Special Interest Group of the PESGB exists to promote the understanding and exchange of knowledge within the Society’s membership of all aspects of surface and subsurface geophysical methods including seismic, gravity, magnetic and electromagnetic.
Approximately thirty six percent of the Societies membership are geophysicists. SIG aims to hold where possible an annual seminar to serve these needs and interests.
Past events have included:
1999 – Geophysical Operations
2000 – Geophysical Data Processing
2001 – Reservoir Geophysics
2003 – Geophysics
2008 – Application of Geophysical Technology in Exploration, Development and Production of Hydrocarbon Resources
2009 – Non-Seismic Geophysics – Modern Methods and Practice
2011 – Amplitudes and Attributes: Uses and Abuses
2013 – Resolution and Imaging of Complex reservoirs
2014 – Securing the Future – Best Practice in Unconventional Reservoir Characterisation
2016 – Getting Value from Geophysics: Economy, Efficiency and Effectiveness for Low Oil Prices
